A New Chapter for ArtSoft: Introducing MachLabs and MachPro

For decades, ArtSoft and Mach software have played a central role in CNC shops, garages, and production floors around the world. Mach3 and Mach4 empowered makers, small businesses, and professionals with an open, flexible approach to CNC control—one that put freedom and customization in the hands of the user.

Today, we’re proud to share the next chapter in that journey.

A New Chapter in ArtSoft’s Journey

ArtSoft is now officially under the ownership of MachMotion, marking an important milestone in the evolution of Mach software.

This transition represents both continuity and commitment. MachMotion has been a trusted partner and integrator of Mach software for more than two decades, working closely with ArtSoft and supporting thousands of Mach-controlled machines in real-world environments. That long-standing relationship has provided deep insight into both the strengths of the Mach platform and the challenges users have faced over time.

Under new ownership, MachMotion is actively investing in the future of CNC control software. Decades of intellectual property, engineering experience, and customer feedback are being unified into a next-generation platform—MachPro—designed to deliver a more stable, modern, and intuitive CNC experience.

This is not a departure from ArtSoft’s legacy. It is a continuation—built with greater resources, long-term stewardship, and a renewed focus on quality, support, and reliability.

Introducing MachLabs

MachLabs is the new home of Artsoft. MachLabs brings software, optional hardware, and support together under one roof, while preserving the openness and flexibility that have always defined Mach.

What MachLabs Brings Together

MachPro — Modern CNC Software for the Long Term
MachPro is a next-generation CNC control platform designed for long-term development, stability, and support. It builds on what Mach users already know and trust, while addressing limitations that have made CNC setup and ongoing maintenance harder than they should be.

Optional Certified Hardware
For users who want a simpler and more predictable setup, MachLabs introduces optional certified hardware—including a new EtherCAT motion controller and CNC control options. These configurations are tested and validated to work together, reducing wiring complexity and setup uncertainty.

Just as important: this hardware is optional. Mach remains open. Users are free to continue using their own PCs, compatible motion controllers, and components, upgrading only when and where it makes sense for their machine.

Factory-Direct Support
MachLabs provides factory-direct support for certified hardware. This creates clearer accountability, faster troubleshooting, and fewer handoffs—especially when hardware and software need to work together.

The Future of Mach3 and Mach4

The Future of Mach3 and Mach4

As we introduce MachLabs and MachPro, it’s important to clearly address the future of Mach3 and Mach4.

Mach3 and Mach4 remain an important part of the Mach ecosystem, and many users continue to run successful machines with them every day. That will not change.

Continued Support

  • Mach3 and Mach4 will continue to be supported.

  • Existing users can continue running their machines with confidence.

  • Mach4 may still receive minor bug fixes when needed to maintain stability.

Support means keeping things working—not forcing change.

Development Going Forward

To focus development resources responsibly, new feature development will move forward exclusively with MachPro.

  • Mach3 is considered feature-complete.

  • Mach4 will not receive new feature development beyond critical fixes.

  • MachPro is where new capabilities, improvements, and long-term innovation will live.

This approach allows us to move forward without breaking what already works.

Licensing and Upgrade Clarity

  • Mach3 and Mach4 licensing remains unchanged.
Existing licenses continue to work as they always have.

  • There is no license upgrade path from Mach4 to MachPro.
MachPro is a new platform with a separate license.

  • Users who choose to move to MachPro will need to purchase a new MachPro license when ready.

This ensures clarity, fairness, and long-term sustainability across all platforms.

Your Choice, your Timeline

Nothing about this transition forces users to move immediately—or at all.

Mach3 and Mach4 remain valid, supported options.
MachPro is available for those who want a more modern foundation, simpler setup, and a clearer long-term path forward.

Our goal is to give you better options, not pressure.

Built on Legacy. Focused on the Future

MachLabs and MachPro represent a careful evolution of Mach—not a reset.

The mission is simple:
to honor the openness and flexibility that made Mach successful, while providing a more stable, modern foundation for the future.

We are deeply grateful to the Mach community for shaping this platform over the years. Your feedback, creativity, and commitment continue to guide what comes next.

Welcome to MachLabs.
